Bentley University

Bentley’s Halloween party was already the stuff of legend. This year, they added a big fat layer of GB awesomeness. The result? Well let’s just say their newspaper headlines were Bentley 2011 Halloween Dance: Borderline insanity (before) and “GrooveBoston Tears Up Bentley” (after). We’ll take it.

And Bentley: Welcome to the club.

Simmons College

Last Friday night, the Simmons College residential campus was buzzing with eager college students. Blue, green and purple lights flickered on and off in Alumnae Hall as students lined up on Brookline Avenue for the gates to open for GrooveBoston’s Wildfire Tour 2011-2012 at Simmons College. GrooveBoston, a mobile club that brings dancing and a club-like atmosphere to college campuses, visited Simmons for the college’s first nightclub dance party.

GrooveBoston’s Wildfire Tour 2011-2012 will span this fall to next spring. They build nightclubs in gyms, quads and parking lots. These mobile clubs come complete with stages, lights, and a DJ booth.

The Campus Activities Board (CAB) originally introduced the idea of a mobile club to the National Association for Campus Activities. We then researched GrooveBoston and saw that they threw amazing parties and wanted to bring them for Simmons students to enjoy,‚Äù said Stephanie Gorosh, President of CAB.

It was evident that the event was popular, with the attendance reaching almost 450 people and Alumnae Hall hitting capacity within the first hour. There was a consistent line of students outside waiting for their turn to enter the club.

“I would definitely go again; it was worth the money. Maybe next time they could get more schools to come. Other than that, it rocked. There was great music and it was great being able to do that with my friends. I had a great time!” said Nafeesa Connolly.

At one point during the party, students went nuts when the DJs began to shoot the crowd with streamers. They kept the tunes going until 1 a.m. with popular songs that were remixed as well as switching up the colored lights to the beat.

“These types of events can only get bigger and better,” said Gorosh. “We heard nothing but positive reviews from students during the event and after. It was a fantastic party.”

Endicott Welcome Weekend

Endicott got their first full-scale taste of GrooveBoston last spring. On 09/10/11, we returned to the Post Center to do it again. Good to be back!

When UVM asked us to help kick off their Week of Welcome, we considered hosting a book reading down at the campus library. Then we had a last minute change of heart and decided instead to transform the Davis Center atrium into a massive dance party fueled by enough bass to melt faces. We think we made the right call…

Quinnipiac – Welcome Weekend

After a long summer of beach time, barbeques, and MASSIVE tour development, the GrooveBoston crew launched WILDFIRE last Friday at Quinnipiac. So farewell skimboards and fried clams, but hellooooooo party season. It’s good to be back.

Endicott College – Spring Weekend

Headlining a GrooveBoston show is serious business. If you look closely, and catch a brief moment when I’m standing still in-between head-banging, beat-dropping, and screaming at the top of my lungs, you’ll notice a few KEY pieces of equipment for a front-line face rocker:

Headphones
I’m currently rocking the Shure SRH750s, for that extra push, in case the 28-speaker sound system isn’t rattling my teeth enough already.

Timepiece
The Vestal Legionnaire ensures that we don’t accidentally overdose anyone on killer beats. (plus, I’m into watches.)

Sweatband
Admittedly, it’s mostly for style and balance. The GB sweatbands come from a limited batch, and were one of the first GB promo items.

Well this time, the sweatband was NO JOKE, and took on a pure-function role. After a warm-up set from the VIP stage, Endicott was more than warm. As we dropped in on the main stage, things got CRAZY. The buzz had been huge on campus, and with this being the first stop in the final segment of the BLOWOUT tour, we were ready to go HARD.

Curry College – Turn Up The Heat

In Spring 2010, Curry approached GB to help create a LEGENDARY new event to cap off their spring weekend. After Rocking the Block, Curry had a collective case of the “club fever.” You won’t find it on WebMD, but symptoms include rocking of the face and pumping of the fist. Last weekend, GrooveBoston administered the annual treatment.

This year’s “Turn Up The Heat” event featured Curry’s first dose of the full-scale mobile club, featuring our signature VIP stage, two live DJ sets, and a CRAZY visual FX system.
