OHHHHHHHHHH MAN.

When I woke up last Saturday, I have to admit I was most excited about getting a 99 cent egg and cheese bagel at Dunkin Donuts. I knew Boston College Homecoming was that night, but come on… 99 cents? That’s a terrific bargain.

As it turns out, no amount of egg, cheese, or bagel could have prepared me for what was about to go down.

We’ve been working at BC for a while now, and let me just start by saying these kids know how to party… which is awesome. Unfortunately, in past years they partied themselves right out of being allowed in any hotel in Boston for Homecoming… not quite as awesome.

Last year, the committee broke the news to us… it went something like this:

BC: “Hey, GrooveBoston, we want to have another huge party.”

GB: “Oh, sweet, we’ll see you at the hotel!”

BC: “Umm… yeah, about that.”

GB: “Oh… Ok. Well where can you have it? Alumni Stadium would be cool… ”

BC: “Err… Not exactly… All we have is this big parking lot.”

GB: “It’s on.”

And it WAS on. We built a dance club literally from the ground up. This years version was (of course) bigger and better, complete with a small city of tents for the main dance floors, bars, food, and even a coat room with metal detectors!

Around 8PM the club was installed and bass was thundering across campus for final sound check. Then… it began. Slowly, at first… then students started showing up in hordes to the sold-out event. By 10 the dance floor was packed… and it stayed that way until the finale.

But, wait… DJ shows don’t have a finale… that’s for fireworks and stuff, right?

WRONG.

Hands in the air. Climbing on speakers. Screaming their lungs out. Dancing so hard our console was moving… This party was coming to a climax. As I slammed out of “Everytime we Touch” into “Since You’ve Been Gone”… it was INSANITY. Before we knew it, THE STUDENT REPS FLOODED THE STAGE! They were jumping up and down, music was blasting, strobes were blinding, everyone was going crazy, and somewhere up above I heard a bald eagle screech.

Ok, not really. But it was an amazing party.

BC… seriously… you guys are NUTS. Keep it up.
